MOSES NORNBERG
“Moses hustles like Apeshit”
Richard Serra, Artist
“He has the potential to be big-league.”
Ivy Cooper, art critic
“Though said before, i.e. another disquisition about war and oil in the Middle East, here one will find an exceptional amount of effort and detail. Bullets create a huge mosaic painting on the wall telling of those who did not survive despite camoflauge. Oil company logos made out of plastic bullets, and oil price signs, make the point terribly clear. Here said needfully again with verve.”
Robert Berman E6 Gallery: Moses Nornberg - Sound of Bullets.
“Guns and oil; death and dollars. Think about that next time you take a spin in your brand new car.”Comment by AB
“Moses is translating music into visceral and visual experiences. It’s conceptually very interesting and very powerful”
Susan Cahan
“Moses’ installation epitomizes his view of a meaningful world while encouraging viewers to explore new ways to speak with one another and act conscientiously, repeating diversity and building community”
Hugh Beall Art Critic
“The Audiophile Series,” large-scale sculptures made from turntables, subwoofers, LPs, and stereo receivers — an alchemy of 50 year’s worth of consumer electronics”
Kristen Hinman
“Moses, in particular, is peculiar to postmodern art in that his work is crisp, straightforward, black-and-white, and object-oriented. His compositions speak, both figuratively, and literally — clearly and concisely. There is no double entendre, no overstated ego to extricate. He has humor, but not derision. He simply abstracts and elevates an aspect of culture that moves him. This seems to be a rare quality among today’s artists, who are so busy burying meaning in an enigmatic loam that they forget to look around and place themselves within the grander scheme of things. That’s not to say they are at fault; that sort of reaction is understandable, even logical in a world constantly firing a salvo of shifting values and information. Even fact does not seem to have a decent foothold. Maybe that is why it is so refreshing to see such focused energy alive in what Moses does.”
Amy West Art Critic
“I think people who are interested in rap or R&B are not necessarily that kind of people who might come to a contemporary art museum on a Saturday afternoon. And by branching out, using crossover media that he does, Moses might have a way to reach those people. He’s trying to find a way to reach out between two forms of expression — music and art”
Gallerist Bruno David
“what we see in these works are the artifacts stacked one atop the other, side by side, and they make to be sure, a beautiful sight. “Revolution” and “Revolution2.0” for instance, a sleek pair of 60 by 60 wall-mounted assemblages, one made from black turntables, the other from white, is perfect in its classy simplicity.”
David Bonetti, Art Critic
